Job summary

The Posting Board, Inc. is seeking an Overnight Patient Observer for an inpatient behavioral health facility in Kissimmee, FL. The role centers on direct patient supervision, 15-minute safety checks, and vital sign monitoring.

You will assist nursing staff, de-escalate when needed, and maintain accurate observation records while following facility policies. Requires HS diploma, valid driver license if driving, and basic computer skills. Shift is 7:00 PM–7:00 AM.

Responsibilities

• Measure and document vital signs; supervise meals and social periods; assist with transfers, admissions, and discharges.
• Assist nursing staff with de-escalation and crisis management; request backup when necessary to maintain safety.
• Maintain accurate observation logs and documentation per facility policies.

Provide direct patient supervision, environmental safety monitoring, and basic clinical support during overnight shifts within an inpatient behavioral health setting. Core duties include conducting 15-minute patient safety checks, monitoring unit security, recording vital signs, assisting nursing staff with de-escalation, and maintaining accurate observation records in a 24/7 care facility.

• Shift: Overnight / Night Shift (7:00 PM - 7:00 AM).
• Availability: Facility operates 24/7; position requires flexibility for shift coverage and attendance at mandatory monthly staff meetings.

Job Responsibilities & Requirements

Key Responsibilities:

• Patient Safety & Observation: Perform visual 15-minute checks on close-observation patients; conduct hourly unit rounds; monitor patient behavior for signs of agitation/anxiety and report changes to the Charge Nurse.
• Clinical & Operational Support: Measure and document vital signs per facility policy; supervise patients during meals and social periods; assist with patient transfers, admissions, and discharges.
• Crisis Assistance & De-escalation: Assist nursing staff with managing agitated or actively disturbed patients, requesting backup when necessary to maintain safety.
• Documentation & Compliance: Maintain accurate, timely observation logs and professional documentation in accordance with facility policies and procedures.

Requirements:

• Education: High School Diploma or GED certificate required.
• Driver's License & Insurance: Valid Class E Driver's License and proof of minimum $50,000 Bodily Injury & Property Liability auto insurance (for roles requiring driving).
• Technical & Soft Skills: Intermediate to advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook); strong written and verbal communication skills; maturity and sensitivity to the needs of individuals with mental health conditions.
• Physical Demands: Ability to stand, walk, reach, stoop, kneel, crouch, and assist with patient physical movement or safety interventions as needed.
