Job summary

Cartwright School District is seeking a Behavioral Technician to provide instructional assistance to students in programs for emotional and behavioral challenges or in alternative education settings. You will work closely with teachers to support classroom management and student learning.

Applicants should have a High School Diploma or GED and at least 2 years of relevant experience; CPR certification and a valid IVP Fingerprint Card may be required for certain positions.

Qualifications

  • Must have a High School Diploma or GED and 2 years of experience with students who are academically or emotionally challenged.
  • Some positions may require CPR Certification.
  • Valid IVP Fingerprint Card is required.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in developing and administering educational programs for students with behavioral or academic needs.
  • Escort students to bus, time-out, nurse's office, or across campus as needed.
  • Support teachers by engaging disruptive students in the classroom.
  • Prepare and maintain logs, reports, files, and score sheets.
  • Assist students with physical activities and related tasks.
  • Perform other duties of a similar nature or level.

Behavioral Technician

JOB GOAL

Incumbents are responsible for providing instructional assistance to children who are in a program for emotional and behavioral problems or are in the alternative education classroom.

Qualifications
  • Ability to read and write in order to communicate and receive instruction, High School Diploma or General Equivalency Diploma (G.E.D) and 2 years of experience working with academically or emotionally challenged children, or and equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above.
  • Some positions may require: Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) Certification.
  • Valid IVP Fingerprint Card
Performance Responsibilities
  • Assists in developing and administering educational programs for behaviorally or academically challenged children; may assist in grading, recording, and averaging papers and /or scores
  • Escorts children to the bus, time-out, the nurse's office and /or across campus.
  • Assists teachers in the classroom by interacting with students who are disruptive in the classroom.
  • Prepares and maintains a variety of logs, reports, files, and reviews.
  • Assists students with physical activities.
  • Performs other duties of a similar nature or level.
  • Positions in this class typically require stooping, lifting, fingering, talking, hearing, seeing, and repetitive motions.
  • Medium Work: Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
  • May be subjected to odors, chemicals, blood and other body fluids, extreme temperatures, workspace restrictions, intense noises, and travel.
Knowledge And Skills
  • Knowledge of applicable Federal, state, county and city statutes, rules, regulations, policies and procedures.
  • Knowledge of applicable Cartwright School District and departmental policies and procedures.
  • Child development concepts and practices;
  • Disciplinary practices and procedures within an educational setting;
  • Behavioral modification techniques;
  • Safety procedures and guidelines

REPORTS TO: Site Administrator

LOCATION: Districtwide

SUPERVISES: NA

CALENDAR: 10 Month

BEGINNING SALARY: ESP Salary Schedule B; As approved by the Governing Board
