Job summary

Eisenhower Center is hiring a Behavior Support Technician to implement ABA-based behavior plans in a residential AFC setting. You will work with BCBA/BCaBA supervision and support clients in skill development and community activities.

The role emphasizes coaching staff, data collection, and ensuring safe, person-centered care across campus and in the community. Evening/weekend coverage is required.

The Behavior Support Technician (BHT/RBT) serves as a key member of the clinical and residential team, supporting the implementation of behavioral interventions grounded in Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) principles within a non-traditional ABA residential environment. This role emphasizes behavior reduction, skill acquisition, and staff coaching, while promoting meaningful client engagement both on campus and in the community. The BT/RBT works under the direction of a BCBA/BCaBA and collaborates closely with multidisciplinary teams to ensure consistent, person-centered care.

Role and Responsibilities
Behavioral Intervention & Clinical Support
  • Implement individualized behavior support plans and protocols developed by the BCBA/BCaBA, ensuring fidelity across residential and community settings.
  • Utilize ABA-informed strategies (e.g., reinforcement, prompting, redirection, shaping) to reduce maladaptive behaviors and increase adaptive functioning.
  • Conduct systematic observations and data collection, documenting behavioral trends, environmental variables, and intervention effectiveness.
  • Provide real-time coaching and feedback to direct care staff to improve consistency and accuracy in behavior plan implementation.
  • Deliver corrective reinforcement and positive feedback to both clients and staff, reinforcing appropriate behaviors and skill use.
  • Model professional, therapeutic, and trauma-informed interactions always.
Staff Coaching & Engagement Leadership
  • Act as an on-shift behavioral resource and mentor, helping staff effectively respond to complex or high-acuity client behaviors.
  • Promote and monitor meaningful client engagement, ensuring adherence to daily schedules, programming, and therapy participation.
  • Conduct daily observations of staff-client interactions, providing immediate coaching, redirection, and recognition of best practices.
  • Support team development by teaching behavioral techniques, de-escalation strategies, and engagement methods, particularly with resistant or challenging clients.
Client Support & Community Integration
  • Provide direct 1:1 behavioral support and supervision to clients as assigned.
  • Assist clients in achieving community access goals, including transportation training (e.g., walking, bus use, cab services) and independent functioning.
  • Support development of social skills and natural supports, including pre-teaching, role modeling, and post-activity feedback.
  • Intervene therapeutically in community settings to reduce barriers to participation and improve goal attainment.
Crisis Intervention & Behavioral Safety
  • Respond to and assist in managing behavioral crises, utilizing approved intervention models (e.g., QBS Safety-Care).
  • Assess staff response during crises and provide immediate guidance to ensure safe, appropriate, and effective interventions.
  • Maintain situational awareness and serve as a campus-wide behavioral support resource, particularly during high-risk situations or escalations.
Documentation, Data & Reporting
  • Complete accurate and timely data collection and reporting, including novel tracking of behavior trends and intervention outcomes.
  • Enter incident reports and behavioral documentation in accordance with organizational, AFC, and regulatory standards.
  • Dedicate consistent time to data entry, analysis, and communication of findings to the BCBA/BCaBA and treatment team.
Interdisciplinary Collaboration
  • Collaborate effectively with a multidisciplinary team, including BCBA/BCaBA, clinicians, therapists, and residential leadership.
  • Maintain strong working relationships with Residential Supervisors, Clinical providers across disciplines (e.g., OT, PT, Speech, Psychotherapy, CTRS).
  • Communicate clearly and professionally to ensure continuity of care and alignment of behavioral and clinical interventions.
Program Support & Additional Responsibilities
  • Assist with implementation and troubleshooting of client incentive and reinforcement systems.
  • Provide coverage across shifts, with emphasis on evenings, weekends, and high-need periods, ensuring behavioral support availability across campus.
  • Contributes to a safe, structured, and therapeutic residential environment that promotes client independence and dignity.
  • Complete additional duties and special projects assigned to support program effectiveness and client outcomes.

Qualifications and Education Requirements
  • Valid Michigan driver’s license

  • Able to work from 8:00AM to 4:30PM or 12:00PM to 8:30PM
