Community Options, Inc. in Butler, PA is hiring a Behavioral Specialist to provide support in a community-based setting for individuals with developmental disabilities.

The role uses best practices and technology to teach skills for independent living, handling crisis situations, and working with a flexible schedule. Qualifications include a Bachelor's degree with related experience; a Master's degree is preferred; valid driver's license; state training; strong communication and problem-solving

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree with one year of experience in developing behavior support plans and teaching staff to implement plans; master's degree preferred.
• Valid driver's license with a satisfactory driving record.
• Complete all state and agency required training per state guidelines.
• Understanding and commitment to community-based supports for persons with disabilities.
• Knowledge of local regulatory agency operations.
• Ability to establish a supportive relationship and manage crises.

Responsibilities

• Observe and interact with individuals.
• Create prevention plans and support plans.
• Complete functional assessments.
• Train staff on implementation of plans.
• Prepare progress reports for individual's immediate support group.
• Serve as an active member of each person’s IDT and participate in IDP development.
• Attend staff meetings for various locations.
• Additional tasks and responsibilities may be assigned.
• Cooperate with license and department staff during inspections or inquiries.
• Employment contingent upon background checks and drug testing.
