Job summary

Volunteers of America Chesapeake and Carolinas seeks a Behavioral Support Professional to provide direct clinical services within I/DD residential programs. You will assess, intervene, and participate in discharge planning in partnership with DSP staff, ensuring adherence to BSP guidelines and CARF/Regulatory standards.

The role requires experience in I/DD settings, strong communication, and the ability to adapt plans with cultural sensitivity.

Qualifications

• Assisted or direct care in I/DD settings.
• Strong understanding of growth and development in I/DD populations.
• Ability to assess data to identify needs and tailor care plans.
• Basic knowledge of chronic mental illness.
• Excellent communication and group facilitation skills.
• Demonstrated intervention and planning abilities.
• Must maintain CPR certification and TOVA training.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct clinical services including assessment, interventions and discharge planning.
• Collaborate with DSP to support individuals in residential programs.
• Document according to BSP guidelines and ensure staff documentation.
• Contribute to support plans and attend meetings to set goals.
• Attend team meetings and report progress toward goals.
• Deliver supports ethically, promoting dignity and respect.
• Assess needs with sensitivity to age, disability and culture.
