Job summary

Opportunity Services in Byron, MN seeks a Behavioral Support Specialist to provide individualized positive behavioral support to individuals with disabilities. You will help clients build skills, navigate challenges, and thrive in the community, working weekdays with no nights or weekends.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma required.
• Clean Driving Record.

Responsibilities

• Provide supervision to clients in day program activities and in the community.
• Assist in transportation of clients using OS vehicles and follow transportation policies.
• Provide quality assistance with all personal cares.
• Provide and assist clients with medication administration.
• Facilitate positive interactions with community members.
• Implement Positive Behavior Support Plans as prescribed.
• Communicate with client teams and collaborate effectively.

Opportunity Services is looking for a compassionate and motivated Behavioral Support Specialist to join our team in Byron, MN. In this role, you’ll provide individualized, positive behavioral support that helps people build skills, navigate challenges, achieve their personal goals, and thrive in their communities.

Hours and Benefits of the Behavioral Support Specialist:

• This position offers a starting pay range of $19–$21 per hour, with starting wages determined based on education, relevant experience, and qualifications.
• Schedule: Approximately 35–40 hours per week, Monday–Friday, with hours typically falling between 7:00 a.m. and 3:30 p.m.

Essential and Principle Job Responsibilities:

• Provide supervision to clients in recreational activities, meal times and other various activities in a day program setting and out within the community.
• Assist in the transportation of clients using OS vehicles and follow agency's transportation policies.
• Provide quality assistance with all personal cares.
• Provide and assist clients with medication administration.
• Facilitate positive interactions of clients with community members at large.
• Assist in interaction through positive reinforcement, positive programming, engagement and the use of alternative communication strategies.
• Communicate and work positively with client teams.
• Implement Physical Intervention Alternatives (PIA) strategies when applicable
• Follow recommended Positive Behavior Support Plans specific to each client

Requirements

Candidate Requirements:

• High School Diploma
• Clean Driving Record
• Ability to obtain DOT certification
• Ability to bend, squat, kneel, torque, grasp lightly, use fine manipulation, grasp forcefully, and reach above shoulders repeatedly throughout the day.
• Ability to life up to 40 pounds
• Desire to work with adults with disabilities and/or behavioral needs
• Experience in dealing with disruptive behaviors
