Job summary

Alpha Health Services is seeking a part-time Behavior Support Specialist to conduct functional assessments and develop strategies promoting positive change and skill acquisition.

The role includes conducting FBA, BSP design, data collection, and training families and staff to implement behavioral plans, with travel within the service region and required clearances. In-person work and equal opportunity employer.

Qualifications

• Educational/Professional requirements: must meet one of the tracks and have required experience.
• Mandatory experience: at least two years with individuals with ID and/or autism.
• Additional requirements: valid driver’s license, travel throughout service region, PA Criminal Record Check, FBI Fingerprinting, and Child Abuse Clearances.

Responsibilities

• Functional Behavioral Assessment (FBA): conduct comprehensive assessments to identify function of challenging behaviors and triggers.
• Behavior Support Plan (BSP) development: design evidence-based plans with positive reinforcement to develop adaptive skills.
• Clinical training: provide instruction to families, caregivers, and staff on BSP implementation.
• Data collection & analysis: monitor progress and adjust interventions to meet goals.
• Collaboration: attend team meetings and work with support coordinators and families for holistic care.

Role Overview:

Alpha Health Services is seeking a Behavior Support Specialist to provide clinical expertise to individuals with intellectual disabilities and autism. This role focuses on conducting functional assessments and developing strategies that promote positive change and functional skill acquisition.

Required Qualifications:

To be eligible for this position, candidates must meet one of the following educational or professional tracks AND possess the required experience:

• 1. Educational/Professional Requirements (Must meet one):
  • Master’s Degree in Psychology, Special Education, Counseling, Social Work, Education, Applied Behavior Analysis, or Gerontology.
  • Pennsylvania Licensure as a Psychologist, Professional Counselor (LPC), Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT), or Clinical Social Worker (LCSW).
  • Certification as a Board-Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) or Board-Certified Assistant Behavior Analyst (BCaBA).
• 2. Mandatory Experience:
  • At least two (2) years of experience working directly with individuals with an intellectual disability and/or autism.
• 3. Additional Requirements:
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation for travel throughout the service region.
  • Successful completion of PA Criminal Record Check, FBI Fingerprinting, and Child Abuse Clearances.

Key Responsibilities:

• Functional Behavioral Assessment (FBA): Conduct comprehensive assessments to identify the purpose of challenging behaviors and environmental triggers.
• Behavior Support Plan (BSP) Development: Design evidence-based support plans that include positive reinforcement strategies and lead to the development of adaptive skills.
• Clinical Training: Provide direct instruction to families, caregivers, and staff on the implementation of behavioral strategies and the use of the BSP.
• Data Collection & Analysis: Monitor progress through consistent data review and adjust interventions to ensure the individual’s goals are being met.
• Collaboration: Attend team meetings and work closely with support coordinators and families to ensure a holistic approach to care.
