Job summary

The University of New Hampshire, located in Durham, seeks a Laboratory Technician to support a rodent alcohol self-administration research program in the Psychology Department. You will coordinate daily experimental operations, handle animals, run operant sessions, and assist in behavioral pharmacology studies under the PI.

This part-time, 20-hour/week adjunct position requires IACUC familiarity, accurate record-keeping, and training of undergraduate assistants.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Psychology, Neuroscience, Biology, or related field or equivalent combination of education and hands-on animal research experience.
• Experience with rodent handling and behavioral neuroscience methods preferred.
• Familiarity with operant conditioning systems and data collection workflows.
• Ability to prepare drug and alcohol solutions accurately.

Responsibilities

• Conduct rodent behavioral testing for alcohol self-administration studies.
• Operate and maintain operant conditioning chambers (lever press, dipper, cue delivery).
• Execute daily experimental sessions (FR, PR, or demand procedures).
• Monitor behavior, troubleshoot equipment and protocol issues.
• Train undergrad researchers in animal handling and procedures.
