Behavioral Interventions Designer/Scientist
Behavioral Interventions Designer/Scientist

Get AI-powered advice on this job and more exclusive features.

We are looking for a Behavioral Interventions Designer/Scientist to shape and refine our behavioral intervention and design framework for an AI-powered health companion. You will work at the intersection of behavioral science, product design, and AI, creating engaging, data-driven, and human-centered experiences that drive real-world health behavior change.

This role is ideal for someone who thrives on applying behavioral science beyond research and into market-ready products, ensuring our interventions are not only theoretically sound but also effective, scalable, and widely adopted by users. You will work closely with AI engineers, data scientists, clinicians, and product teams to bring behavioral science to life in real-world applications.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and refine behavioral intervention frameworks that guide the development of an AI-powered health companion for sustained behavior change.
  • Develop behavioral design strategies that integrate motivational psychology, behavioral economics, and habit formation principles into AI-driven conversations.
  • Partner with AI teams to ensure that conversational design aligns with behavioral science best practices and delivers an engaging, empathetic user experience.
  • Engage directly with users, patients, and healthcare providers to gather insights, test interventions, and refine engagement strategies.
  • Apply hands-on experience in coaching, therapy, counseling, or patient support (e.g., as a behavioral coach, mental health coach, therapist, or similar role) to ensure interventions resonate with real users.
  • Translate complex behavioral theories into practical, scalable AI-driven solutions that feel intuitive, motivating, and impactful to users.
  • Design and implement large-scale behavior change interventions that go beyond lab research and are successfully deployed in real-world, high-usage digital health products.
  • Analyze user behavior data, feedback, and engagement patterns, identifying opportunities for continuous improvement in intervention effectiveness.
  • Collaborate with clinicians and regulatory teams to ensure interventions are evidence-based, ethical, and compliant with digital health regulations.
  • Design A/B tests and randomized trials to assess the impact of behavioral interventions.
  • Stay ahead of research in behavioral science, digital health, and AI-driven interventions, integrating new insights into product development.

Qualifications:

  • Advanced degree (PhD or Master’s) in Behavioral Science, Psychology, Cognitive Science, Behavioral Economics, Human-Computer Interaction (HCI), or related field.
  • 5+ years of experience designing and implementing real-world behavior change interventions, with proven success in consumer-facing health, wellness, or digital therapeutics products.
  • Experience working in health coaching, mental health support, patient engagement, or similar roles, bringing practical knowledge of how interventions affect real users.
  • A track record of designing, building, and launching behavior change products that are actively used by patients or consumers, rather than limited to research or academic settings.
  • Deep expertise in behavior-change frameworks (e.g., COM-B, Self-Determination Theory, Fogg Behavior Model, Motivational Interviewing).
  • Familiarity with AI-driven, voice, or conversational experiences, and how behavioral science can enhance engagement.
  • Experience in A/B testing, randomized controlled trials, or other behavioral experimentation methodologies.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret user behavior data and translate insights into intervention strategies.
  • A passion for making digital health experiences human-centered, ethical, and impactful.
  • Ability to work cross-functionally with AI researchers, clinicians, UX designers, and product teams.
  • Experience with digital therapeutics (DTx), patient engagement, and chronic disease management is a plus.

Why Join Us?

  • Make a real impact by shaping the future of AI-driven health behavior change.
  • Work with a mission-driven team committed to innovation in digital health.
  • Collaborate with leading experts in AI, behavioral science, and healthcare.
  • See your work come to life in products that reach and help real users every day.
  • Flexible work environment with opportunities for growth and leadership in a fast-paced startup.
