Job summary

Children's of Alabama's Behavioral Health Inpatient unit in Main Campus Dearth Tower is seeking dedicated staff for Day Shift. The role involves caring for children ages 4 to 18 with mental illness, emotional conditions or developmental disabilities, on 12-hour shifts.

You will collaborate with psychiatrists, therapists and nurses to implement treatment plans and keep patients safe. Three twelve-hour shifts per week with rotation every third weekend; strong communication and empathetic listening

Qualifications

• Basic Life Support certification is required.
• Strong communication skills and ability to work with children and families.

Responsibilities

• Care for patients who have mental illness, emotional conditions and/or developmental disabilities.
• Assist with development, implementation and evaluation of the patient's care as outlined in the treatment plan.
• Monitor patients' physical and emotional well-being and report to medical staff.
• Communicate effectively with patients and staff to support safety and treatment goals.

Work schedule will be Full-time on the Day Shift, 3 twelve-hour shifts, every 3rd weekend.

Summary:
Care for patients who have mental illness, emotional conditions and/or developmental disabilities. Assist with the development, implementation and evaluation of the patient's care as outlined in the treatment plan. Monitor patients' physical and emotional well-being and report to medical staff. Possess communication skills and the aptitude to work with patients with behavioral problems or mental illness.

The Inpatient Behavioral Health Unit is comprised of 44 beds and provides a therapeutic, engaging environment for children ages 4 to 18. The Behavioral Health Inpatient Unit is a rewarding place to work where our care team makes an impact on children’s lives with every interaction. Along with psychiatrists, therapists, and nurse practitioners, we are involved in the day to-day care and decisionmaking that helps kids and families live their best lives. We work hands-on with children of all ages who are struggling with depression, anxiety, suicide,self-control, and trauma. We teach them new emotional and behavioral skills in a fun and interactive way. Our patients need to know that someone cares and can help keep them safe. Someone who can listen compassionately without judgement.
