Job Description

What You’ll Do:

This position works under general direction and requires thorough knowledge of behavioral healthcare theories, interventions, and evaluation techniques.

  1. As a member of interdisciplinary treatment team, responsible for the development and implementation of mental health interventions (e.g. psychological, social) for a caseload of mentally ill criminal offenders.
  2. Develops specialized treatment plans and programs and intervention methods used by treatment teams to treat patients.
  3. Supervises, evaluates and trains social workers and/or counselors.
  4. Assigns the caseload and oversees treatment activities of mental health social workers and/or counselors.
  5. Completes mental health risk assessments inclusive of suicide watch assessments within their scope of practice and for Non-Independently Licensed Mental Health Professionals directed by and in consultation with an Independently Licensed Mental Health Professional.
  6. Provides social psychological services to patients including advanced practice individual and group therapy, diagnostic evaluations, psychosocial assessments and suicide prevention interventions.
  7. Documents evaluations, assessments, and interventions in the Electronic Health Care Record.
  8. Participates in and/or is responsible for the mental health services quality assurance program.
  9. Initiates and maintains contact with families and community agencies.
  10. Provides and seeks information relative to patient care and treatment.
  11. Makes appropriate community referrals, per mental health treatment team.
  12. Participates in personnel management tasks including recruitment, interview and recommendations for hiring.
  13. Complies with all facility and DRC rules, policies and procedures.
  14. Maintains necessary data documents required by DRC.
  15. Establishes and maintains a working relationship with other facilities and agencies.
  16. Conducts in-service training.
  17. Participates in continuing education programs.
  18. Attends conferences, workshops and meetings as directed.

Qualifications

Licensed Independent Social Worker (LISW) by Ohio Counselor, Social Work, Marriage & Family Therapy Board.
-Or- Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC) by Ohio Counselor, Social Work, Marriage & Family Therapy Board.
