Job summary

UPMC – University of Pittsburgh Medical Center is seeking a Behavioral Health Therapist I to provide outpatient mental health services to diverse patients. You will conduct biopsychosocial assessments, develop person-centered treatment plans, and deliver individual, group, and family therapy using evidence-based practices within a collaborative, learning-focused culture.

You will work closely with psychiatrists, nurses, and community providers, monitor outcomes, and maintain detailed EHR

Qualifications

• Current or eligible Pennsylvania professional license (e.g., LCSW, LPC, LMFT, LSW under supervision)
• CPR certification as required by facility policy
• Background checks and clearances per Pennsylvania regulations
• Training in evidence-based psychotherapies (e.g., CBT, DBT, trauma-informed care) preferred

Responsibilities

• Provide individual, group, and family psychotherapy to outpatient behavioral health patients
• Conduct comprehensive biopsychosocial assessments and risk evaluations
• Develop, implement, and update person-centered, evidence-based treatment plans
• Collaborate with psychiatrists, nurses, case managers, and community providers on care coordination
• Monitor patient progress, adjust interventions, and support recovery-oriented goals
• Maintain accurate, timely clinical documentation in the electronic health record (EHR)
• Participate in case conferences, supervision, and interdisciplinary team meetings
• Adhere to legal, ethical, and regulatory standards for behavioral healthcare
• Engage in ongoing professional development and UPMC training programs
• Educate patients and families on mental health conditions, treatments, and community resources
