Inova Health System in Fairfax, VA is seeking a dedicated Behavioral Health Therapist 4 for a full-time day shift (Mon–Fri, 8:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m.). This role supports PHP and IOP services, delivering evidence-based therapy and psychoeducation while providing clinical leadership to a multidisciplinary team.

• Experience with psychosocial assessments and evidence-based interventions.

Responsibilities

• Provide clinical expertise and evidence-based psychotherapy within PHP/IOP.
• Supervise team members seeking licensure and mentor graduate students during internships.
• Lead and participate in psychoeducation and behavioral interventions aligned with individualized treatment plans.

This program can also be step up from outpatient care, with the goal of helping people avoid inpatient psychiatric admission. The Behavioral Health Therapist 4 serves as clinical expert providing a range of therapeutic services, psychoeducational programming and behavioral interventions to assist the client in achieving progress towards the goals and objectives of individualized treatment plans. Assesses and diagnoses mental health and/or substance use disorders through a bio/psycho/social department specific and evidenced based assessment identifying patient and family goals/needs. Serves as a clinical leader by providing clinical supervision to team members seeking licensure as well as supervision/mentoring of graduate students during clinical internships.

Minimum Qualifications

• Certification - Basic Life Support within 3 months of hire; Crisis Prevention Institute in-person training for non-violent crisis intervention, receive CPI blue card within 6 months of hire, After 9/1/25, Vistelar replaces CPI for new and renewed de-escalation certifications. Approved Clinical Supervisor within 3 months
• Licensure - Upon start: Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT), Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), Licensed Clinical Psychologist (LCP), or Licensed Substance Abuse Professional (LSATP)
• Experience - Five years of experience post licensure in mental health/substance use disorder treatment, psychoeducational programming including targeted, evidence-based interventions (crisis intervention, trauma, and integrative therapies)
• Education - Master's Degree, Ph.D., PsyD, EdD in Mental Health, Social Work, Counseling, Substance Use Disorders or Behavioral Health-related field

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with doing biopsychosocial assessments
• Experience in leading group therapy
• Approved Clinical Supervisor
