GUIDANCE CARE CENTER INC is seeking a clinician to provide a full range of assessment, counseling, and psychotherapeutic services for youth with mental health and substance use needs. The role is community based with travel to schools and client homes in Key West and surrounding areas.

The position requires CAP/MCAP certification or Florida-licensed credentials (LCSW/LMHC/LMFT) and a graduate degree in a related field, with 2–3 years of relevant experience.

Qualifications

  • Certification in Florida or national behavioral health standards.
  • Master's degree in Addiction Counseling, Psychology, Social Work, or related field.
  • Two–three years of mental health and/or substance abuse experience preferred.

Responsibilities

Position Summary

Provides a full range of assessment, consultation and psychotherapeutic services for Mental Health, Substance Abuse and/or Co‑Occurring Disorders, for identified youth. This position is community based with travel required. Services are provided in schools and client homes.

Essential Job Functions
  • Engages in direct staff hours of service for assigned clients at the rate of 120 hours per month.
  • Conducts intake assessments/biopsychosocial evaluations for new and existing clients.
  • Performs assessments in accordance with Centers standards, policies and procedures.
  • Employs the integrated, longitudinal, strength‑based Intake Assessment tool in line with the CCISC model and philosophy.
  • Communicates a welcoming expectation, demonstrates empathic listening and compassion, and establishes a hopeful connection while collecting supporting information in a trauma‑informed manner.
  • Develops and maintains a written treatment plan for each client, collaborating with the client and ensuring it is strength‑based and recovery/resiliency oriented.
  • Conducts individual, group and family counseling activities as required.
  • Prepares written documentation for each service conducted, ensuring compliance with Center standards, policies and procedures.
  • Accurately completes and submits all regulatory and reimbursement forms within the required timeframes.
  • Completes Service Manager and progress notes daily.
  • Maintains treatment records that accurately reflect the nature of the service activity, timeliness, and outcome.
  • Documents all clinical services and activities in accord with licensing, Medicaid, CARF standards and agency policy.
  • Participates in case conferences.
  • Completes all orientation and mandated training activities, including e‑learning courses, within required timeframes.
  • Embraces and embodies the mission, vision, and guiding principles of WestCare Foundation.
  • Performs any other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Certification as a CAP or MCAP in good standing by an agency approved by the Florida Certification Board; preference given to currently certified candidates.
  • Licensure as a LCSW, LMHC, or LMFT in good standing by an agency approved by the state of Florida; preference given to currently licensed candidates.
  • Graduation from an accredited master’s program in Addiction Counseling, Criminal Justice, Social Work, Psychology, or a related field.
  • Two – three years of related work experience in Mental Health and/or Substance Abuse, preferably both.
  • Bilingual preferred.
  • Ability to converse with consumers and families about substance and mental health issues.
  • Excellent communication skills with multidisciplinary team members.
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and data‑communication abilities.
  • Knowledge and application of therapeutic techniques such as CBT, Motivational Interviewing, Relapse Prevention, Seeking Safety, and the CCISC model.
  • Familiarity with behavioral health terminology, WestCare services, HIPAA, and confidentiality standards.
  • Understanding of trauma-informed care, re‑traumatization, and cultural diversity considerations.
  • Demonstrated professionalism, dependability, and adherence to ethical conduct.
  • CPR and First Aid certification, annual tuberculosis test, and ability to provide a Good Moral Character affidavit.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and accessibility to pre‑employment drug testing and criminal record checks.
Working Conditions

Work is primarily performed in the community at client homes and schools. Some outdoor activities may be required.

Essential Physical Demands

Requires mobility and physical activity, including standing, walking, sitting for extended periods, bending, twisting, reaching, balancing, and occasional lifting up to 50 pounds. Use of computer and telephone systems is required. Ability to employ physical de‑escalation techniques is necessary.

Essential Mental Demands

Requires the ability to analyze complex data and verbal information, work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders, manage stress in emotionally charged settings, and apply mental/ verbal de‑escalation techniques.
