Position Summary

Provides a full range of assessment, consultation, and psychotherapeutic services for Mental Health, Substance Abuse, and/or Co‑Occurring Disorders, including Seeking Safety, Relapse Prevention, Court‑ordered evaluations, Baker Act Assessments, Brief Behavioral Status Exams, and Drug Court. Services are provided at the agency‑specific site.

Essential Job Functions
  • Engage in direct staff hours of service for assigned clients at a rate of 115 hours per month.
  • Conduct intake assessments/biopsychosocial evaluations for new and existing clients.
  • Perform assessments in accordance with the Centers’ standards, policies, and procedures relative to frequency, documentation, and timeliness.
  • Develop and maintain a written treatment plan for each client; ensure it is strength‑based, recovery‑oriented, and developed with client participation.
  • Conduct individual, group, and family counseling activities as required.
  • Prepare written documentation for each service conducted in accordance with standards, policies, and procedures.
  • Accurately complete and submit all regulatory and reimbursement forms within required timeframes.
  • Maintain Service Activity Logs with progress notes attached on a daily basis.
  • Document all clinical services in accord with licensing, Medicaid, CARF standards, and agency policy.
  • Participate in case conferences.
  • Complete all orientation and mandated training activities, including e‑learning courses, within required timeframes.
  • Embrace and embody the mission, vision, guiding principles, clinical vision, and goals of WestCare Foundation.
  • Perform any other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Certifications/Licensure
  • Certification as a CAP or MCAP in good standing by an agency approved and recognized by the Florida Certification Board is preferred at time of hire; preference to those currently certified.
  • Licensure as an LCSW, LMHC, or LMFT in good standing by an agency approved and recognized by the state of Florida is preferred at time of hire; preference to those currently licensed.
Education
  • Graduation from an accredited master’s program with a degree in Addiction Counseling, Criminal Justice, Social Work, Psychology, or related field is required.
Experience and Competencies
  • Two to three years of related work experience in Mental Health and/or Substance Abuse, preferably both.
  • Bilingual is preferred.
  • Ability to converse with consumers/families about substance and mental health issues.
  • Effective communication with multidisciplinary team members.
  • Organization, interpretation, and communication of data in a comprehensive manner.
  • Network with internal and external departments and agencies.
  • Knowledge of therapeutic techniques and ability to develop and maintain client rapport.
  • Understanding of generally acceptable clinical assessment procedures.
  • Proficiency in psychotherapeutic modalities including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, Relapse Prevention, Seeking Safety, and the CCISC (Comprehensive, Continuous, Integrated, System of Care) Model.
  • Maintain confidential files and records; working knowledge of behavioral health terminology.
  • Knowledge of WestCare Mission, goals, and values; incident reporting; HIPAA, professional ethics, consumer rights, and confidentiality.
  • Familiarity with WestCare services and programs.
  • Understanding of cultural identity, ethnic background, age, developmental level, gender, and sexual orientation issues in prevention, intervention, and treatment.
  • Respect for individuals’ cultural and ethnic values in interactions.
  • Articulate a working definition of trauma, understand its impact, and recognize re-traumatization.
  • Demonstrate high dependability, good attendance, and flexibility.
  • Work independently with minimal supervision, produce productive work time, and exhibit integrity.
  • Establish effective working relationships with consumers, co‑workers, external partners, and regulatory agencies.
  • Maintain a safe working environment and adhere to agency safety procedures.

  • Excellent communication skills and discretion.
  • Adhere to highest ethical standards, especially confidentiality.
  • CPR, First Aid certification, and annual tuberculosis test; clearance in pre‑employment drug testing and criminal records checks as required.
  • Utilize Microsoft Office software and provide an Affidavit of Good Moral Character.
  • Address telephone and computer use requirements.
  • Potential to defend oneself and clients in physically or verbally abusive situations using approved de‑escalation techniques.
Working Conditions
  • Work primarily performed in an office or residential treatment setting; some outdoor activities may be required.

  • Mobility and physical activity: standing, walking on even and uneven surfaces, sitting for extended periods, bending, twisting, reaching, balancing, occasional lifting up to 50 pounds; use of computer and telephone.
  • Speaking and listening: convey ideas and receive detailed oral information clearly, loudly, or quickly.
  • Seeing: vision at 20 inches or less and at distance; necessary for completing paperwork and observing client behavior.

  • Defending oneself and clients in abusive situations with approved de‑escalation techniques.
