Job Summary:
The Behavioral Health Technician I position provides direct and supportive care to clients/patients, including overseeing daily activities, redirecting clients, health monitoring (vital signs), crisis intervention, communication with treatment team, facilitating group activities, and transporting clients as needed. They should understand the treatment plan, monitor and document behavior, and maintain a safe, therapeutic environment.

Key Responsibilities:
- Supervise, monitor, transfer, and discharge clients/patients.
- Encourage adherence to program rules in a trauma-informed manner and report concerns to the treatment team.
- Participate in treatment planning by identifying client strengths and needs.
- Document behaviors and concerns during shifts.
- Assist with admission, orientation, and safety procedures, including vital signs and specimen collection.
- Facilitate urine collection and testing, documenting procedures accordingly.
- Operate communication systems, respond to crisis calls, and communicate with the team promptly.
- Assist clients with daily activities, monitor activities, and ensure clients are present for scheduled activities.
- Promote positive social interactions and model solution-focused behaviors.
- Follow safety protocols and document compliance.
- Monitor health conditions and communicate with the team as needed.
- Prepare and facilitate group sessions and transport clients as required.
- Maintain professional behavior aligned with the organization’s code of conduct.
- Complete mandatory trainings and participate in meetings and training sessions.
- Maintain a safe, clean environment and report safety concerns.
- Adhere to all policies and demonstrate commitment to organizational goals.
- Perform other duties as assigned by leadership.
Experience and/or Education Qualifications:
- High School diploma or equivalent and two years of responsible employment.
- Experience in Human Services or related field preferred.
OR
- Exceptions may be made by an executive team member.
St. Louis County Programs:
- Bachelor’s Degree or MAADC I/II certification.
For Residential Care Facility (RCF):
- Credential as Level 1 Med Aid (LIMA) and Insulin Certification within 90 days.
Physical Requirements:
- Must stand, walk, sit, climb stairs, kneel, crouch, and bend regularly. Ability to lift/move up to 50 lbs. Vision and communication skills required.
