Job summary

Arkansas Children's is seeking a Behavioral Health Technician (BERT) for full-time day shift in the Behavioral Health department. The role supports patient safety with continuous observation and de-escalation techniques, under supervision of licensed staff.

Responsibilities include documenting patient status, assisting with admissions, transfers and discharges, and maintaining a clean, safe environment. Requires no formal education, but a HS diploma/GED is recommended and CBHT/CNA/CMHT

Qualifications

• No education requirements
• High school diploma or GED recommended
• 2 years of relevant experience; HS diploma/GED may substitute for 2 years of experience

Responsibilities

• Maintains documentation of patient mood, mental sharpness, sleeping patterns, eating habits and overall function for safety.
• Maintains direct observation and documentation of patient vital statistics.
• Recognizes and reports early signs of escalation to the treatment team.
• Communicates effectively with the treatment team to ensure safe, quality care.
• Responds appropriately to dangerous behavior and de-escalates when needed.
• Assists with admission, transfer and discharge of patients as directed by licensed staff.
