Job summary

University Health System- San Antonio is seeking an assistant to support Psychiatry Services and nursing staff with patient preparation and treatment procedures for both acute and non-acute illnesses in a psychiatric setting.

The role involves performing routine patient care, maintaining the therapeutic milieu through effective communication, and handling clerical duties related to patient care management.

Qualifications

• A high school diploma, its equivalent, or higher degree is required.
• One year of experience in a psychiatric setting is required.
• Can substitute one year of college credit towards a Nursing or Psychology degree for one year of experience.
• Phlebotomy experience preferred.
• Must have current American Heart Association, Basic Cardiac Life Support and Healthcare Provider card.
• Must have or obtain certification (CBHT, CMHT) within one year of employment.

Responsibilities

• Assists Psychiatry Services, nursing staff with patient preparation and treatment procedures, both acute and non-acute illnesses or injuries.
• Performs routine patient care as required in a psychiatric environment.
• Assists in maintaining the therapeutic milieu by utilizing appropriate communication skills.
• Performs clerical duties associated with patient care management.
