Job summary

Banyan Treatment Centers in Mooresville, NC is seeking a part-time Behavioral Health Technician (BHT) to support patients and staff in our on-site substance use treatment programs. The BHT plays a critical role in supervision, safety, and patient engagement throughout daily activities.

The role emphasizes crisis management, compassionate communication, and teamwork with clinicians and program directors, reporting to the Executive Director; Wednesday availability is required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Safe driving record with clean DMV for the last 3 years.
• Must be at least 21 years old to comply with motor vehicle insurance requirements.
• Relevant behavioral health certification, preferred.
• Work experience in the field of substance use disorder or mental health treatment.

Responsibilities

• Patient supervision and safety: monitor patients and facility grounds, and document incidents.
• Waive testing: measure vital signs, conduct UDS and pregnancy tests.
• Patient interaction and support: provide empathetic, professional care and refer concerns to therapy staff.
• Communication and team collaboration: share patient information with supervisors and clinicians, and maintain positive team relations.
• Daily program and facility management: assist in patient transport, group activities, and discharge preparations.
