Job summary

Banyan Treatment Centers in Mooresville, NC seeks a part-time Behavioral Health Technician (BHT) to work 3 PM–7 PM on Mondays and Fridays on-site. The BHT will supervise patients, conduct safety checks, perform basic testing, and support therapy staff while fostering a compassionate recovery environment.

The role emphasizes crisis awareness, patient interaction, and collaboration with a multidisciplinary team, reporting to the Executive Director.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• Valid driver's license with a clean DMV history for last 3 years.
• Must be at least 21 years old to comply with motor vehicle insurance requirements.
• Behavioral health certification preferred.
• Experience in substance use disorder or mental health treatment.

Responsibilities

• Patient supervision and safety: monitor patients and facility grounds, perform safety checks, document incidents.
• Waive testing: measure and report vital signs, conduct UDS and pregnancy tests.
• Patient interaction and support: provide emotional support and refer concerns to therapy staff.
• Communication and team collaboration: share patient updates with Team Leader and Supervisor; collaborate with the team.
• Daily program and facility management: assist in patient transport, group coordination, and discharge preparations.

The North Carolina facility is a 20-bed, full-continuum operation opening with two SUD programs: Detox and Residential.

• Reporting to: Executive Director
• Schedule: Part-Time, Monday & Friday, 3 PM - 7 PM
• Location: Mooresville, NC (On-site).

Key Responsibilities:

• Patient Supervision and Safety:Monitor patients and facility grounds, conduct safety checks, and communicate with medical staff for attention needs. Ensure adherence to facility rules and document incidents.

• Waive Testing:Measure and report vital signs, conduct UDS and pregnancy tests, and comply with company policies.

• Patient Interaction and Support:Maintain respectful and professional interactions with patients, offering emotional support, referring clinical concerns to therapy staff. Demonstrate empathy and adaptability in addressing diverse patient needs.

• Communication and Team Collaboration:Share relevant patient information with the Team Leader, Supervisor/Operations Director while collaborating with the team to ensure high-quality care. Maintain positive relationships within the addiction treatment community and contribute to a supportive team environment.

• Daily Program and Facility Management: Assist in patient transport, group coordination, and recreational activities. Ensure facility safety, supervise supplies, and manage patient discharge preparations.

Qualifications

• High school diploma/equivalent or higher.
• Safe driving record with a clean DMV report for the last 3 years.
• Must be at least 21 years of age to comply with motor vehicle insurance requirements
• Relevant behavioral health certification, preferred.
• Work experience in the field of substance use disorder or mental health treatment.
