Behavioral Health Technician - Lou Masterman Center (LMC) - Part Time Overnight Shift

Location: Cape Girardeau, MO

Base Pay: $16.38/hour

Part Time Position: Overnight: 7p-7a - Sat and Sun

Community Counseling Center offers shift differentials for staff working evening or overnight shifts at its residential facilities.
Evening Shift: + $0.50/hour
Overnight Shift: +$1.00/hour

Minimum Required Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma/GED/HSE required.
  • Preference given to those with at least two years' experience in Healthcare or Mental Health or with an undergraduate degree.
  • Must hold or obtain by start date, MO Class E Driver's License (Class D for IL residents), proof of auto insurance, meet CCC's Motor Vehicle Record standards, and have reliable transportation.

The Lou Masterman Center (LMC) Program:

LMC is a 7-bed Intensive Residential Treatment Service (IRTS) providing support for individuals with chronic mental health diagnoses such as anxiety, bipolar disorder, depression, and personality disorders, often involving severe behavioral and emotional issues. It also has three short-term diversion beds as alternatives to inpatient hospitalization.

What is an IRTS?

IRTS is a specialized program led by a Qualified Mental Health Professional (QMHP) ensuring services are delivered by qualified professionals. The program emphasizes Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), including weekly skills training, application, coaching, and individual counseling. An onsite nurse is available for medical needs.

Your Role as a Behavioral Health Technician (BHT):

You will oversee clients' safety and well-being, assist with skill building, participate in groups, and intervene during crises. Effective communication, modeling positive behavior, and promoting client-centered treatment are essential.

*Note: This position was formerly known as "Resident Care Worker".

Essential Functions:

  1. Provide care promoting safety, comfort, and a therapeutic environment using trauma-informed approaches.
  2. Educate clients on daily living activities and self-care management.
  3. Teach functional living skills such as anger management, impulse control, and emotional coping.
  4. Coordinate with the treatment team for client care.
  5. Chart observations per policy.
  6. Conduct checks on personal belongings, rooms, and grounds.
  7. Monitor clients and respond to medical emergencies or elopements as per policy.
  8. Transport clients to appointments as needed.
  9. Intervene in behavioral crises.
  10. Distribute and document medications, report errors immediately.
  11. Maintain documentation according to policies and standards.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent, or Bachelor's in Human Services or Behavioral Health.
  • Reliable transportation, valid driver's license, ability to obtain Class E license, proof of auto insurance.
