Job Description

The Behavioral Health Technician will be responsible for:

  • Providing one-on-one support to patients with behavioral health needs.
  • Monitoring patient safety and observing behaviors in accordance with protocols.
  • Conducting environmental checks with Registered Nurse assistance and identifying risk factors.
  • Implementing safety measures such as restraints, observation levels, and suicide watches as needed.
  • Responding to and de-escalating acute behavioral episodes therapeutically.
  • Preventing elopement under the guidance of medical staff and calling support when necessary.
  • Identifying behaviors that could escalate and using techniques to de-escalate.
  • Monitoring patients and environment for safety concerns.
  • Assisting with vital signs, Activities of Daily Living, and medical procedures as directed.
  • Completing documentation and administrative duties.

The schedule involves 8-hour shifts, with day/evening rotations, occasional nights, every other weekend, and rotating holidays, totaling 24 hours.

Qualifications
  • High School Diploma/GED; Associate’s Degree preferred.
  • BLS certification within three months of hire.
  • De-escalation training within six months of hire.
  • Six months of experience in behavioral health or educational setting preferred.
