Job summary

Tampa General Behavioral Health Hospital is seeking a Behavioral Health Technician to support patients during their treatment journey within a multidisciplinary team. The role focuses on safety, recovery, and compassionate care in a behavioral health setting.

The position requires a High School Diploma or GED and a current BLS certification, with CPI preferred or obtainable during orientation. This is a full-time night shift with opportunities for professional development and advancement within

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Current BLS Certification required within established timeframe.
• CPI (Crisis Prevention Intervention) certification preferred or obtained during orientation.

Responsibilities

• Provides direct patient care under licensed nursing staff.
• Maintains a safe, therapeutic environment for behavioral health patients.
• Conducts routine patient observations and documents findings accurately.
• Assists patients with activities of daily living as needed.
• Facilitates patient engagement in therapeutic and recreational activities.
• Implements de-escalation techniques and responds to crises appropriately.
• Supports treatment goals by encouraging coping skills and participation in care plans.
• Observes and reports changes in patient behavior, mood, and condition.
• Maintains patient confidentiality and HIPAA compliance.
• Collaborates with nurses, therapists, physicians, and other team members.
• Participates in ongoing education, safety training, and performance improvement initiatives.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
