Job summary

Tampa General Behavioral Health Hospital, operated jointly with Lifepoint Health and Tampa General Hospital, is seeking a Behavioral Health Technician II for the night shift. You will support patients throughout their behavioral health treatment journey in a compassionate, therapeutic environment.

Responsibilities include vital signs, documentation, crisis intervention, and co-facilitating groups, with opportunities to mentor staff and contribute to treatment planning within an interdisciplinary

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• CPR certification within 30 days of hire.
• De-escalation certification within 30 days of hire.
• One year of inpatient psychiatric experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide patient care tasks delegated by the RN, including taking vital signs, collecting specimens, documenting care, facilitating group education, and monitoring patients.
• Demonstrate effective milieu management and accompany patients to meals, breaks, off-unit visits, and appointments.
• Report medical or psychiatric changes to the RN and assist with admissions, including belongings inventory, visitation, and vital signs.
• Document property at admission and discharge, conduct safety checks, and promote a clean, therapeutic environment.
• Encourage patients with activities of daily living and facilitate or co-facilitate psychoeducational and therapeutic groups.
• Apply crisis intervention and de-escalation techniques and maintain knowledge of program policies and procedures.
• Provide orientation and mentorship to new staff members, serve as a preceptor, and train colleagues on group facilitation and maintaining a therapeutic milieu.
• Employ therapeutic communication, assess patient needs related to chemical dependency, and document plans of care from admission through discharge.
• Participate in treatment planning as part of the interdisciplinary team and perform other duties as assigned.
