Behavioral Health Technician - Ridgeway - Floating Shift - No Experience Needed!

Location: Cape Girardeau, MO

Base Pay: $17.59/hour

Schedule: Full-Time, 40 hours/week - Flexibility across all shifts (Day, Evening, Overnight)

Non-exempt: Full Time - 40 hours/week

Minimum Required Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma/GED/HSE required.
  • Preference for candidates with at least two years' experience in Healthcare or Mental Health or with an undergraduate degree.
  • Must hold or obtain by start date, MO Class E Driver's License (Class D for IL residents), and proof of auto insurance. Must meet CCC's Motor Vehicle Record standards and have reliable transportation.

Note: The Class E is a written computer test; no driving test is required. After passing, you transfer the license at the DMV.

The Ridgeway Program:

An all-female, ten-bed IRTS providing support for individuals with chronic mental health diagnoses involving severe behavioral issues. Due to the population, only female employees are eligible to work here.

Your Job as a Behavioral Health Technician (BHT):

Responsible for client safety, mental well-being, and facility oversight. Includes assisting with skill-building, group participation, crisis intervention, and modeling positive behavior. Strong communication skills and client-centered approach required.

Essential Functions:

  • Provide safe, trauma-informed care to clients.
  • Educate clients on daily living and self-care tasks.
  • Teach skills like anger management, impulse control, social skills, and emotional coping.
  • Coordinate with treatment team.
  • Chart observations and conduct checks.
  • Monitor clients and respond to emergencies.
  • Transport clients as needed.
  • Intervene in crises.
  • Distribute and document medications.
  • Follow policies for documentation and safety.
