Job summary

Centerstone in Clarksville, TN is seeking a part-time Peer Recovery Specialist to provide walk-in center and crisis stabilization support. You will offer peer and crisis support, share information, education, and promote wellness, recovery, and skill-building through group and individual interventions.

The role emphasizes de-escalation, safety checks, vital signs, basic data entry, and collaboration with nursing staff to support clients in crisis.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Certified peer recovery specialist preferred.
• One year of relevant job experience required, preferably in mental health.

Responsibilities

• Provides training and interventions in group and individual settings to improve client functioning.
• Obtains vital signs and reports results to nursing; completes 15-minute safety checks.
• Offers supervision and interaction to clients during the shift and ensures safety.
• De-escalates clients using evidence-based de-escalation techniques as needed.
• Uses basic data entry and documents vital signs and shift notes.
• Obtains CPR, First Aid, and AED training to assist clients.

SUMMARY OF POSITION

Provides support and stabilization services to clients in the Walk-in Center and Crisis Stabilization Unit. Provides peer and crisis support services, information, education and support for clients. Promotes wellness, recovery and skill building through group and individual interventions.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Provides training and interventions in both group and individual settings, focusing on the improvement of the client’s functioning and health-related issues. Obtains vital signs and reports results to nursing. Completes 15-minute safety checks. Provides assistance, supervision and interaction to client throughout work shift. Inventories, documents and secures client belongings. Ability to de-escalate clients using evidence-based de-escalation training, ie. Therapeutic Options, to include safety holds, as necessary. Use of basic technology, such as data entry and documentation of vital signs and shift notes. Obtains CPR, First Aid, and AED training to provide assistance to clients as needed.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES

Effectively communicate via written, verbal, in person and virtual methods. Knowledge of community resources. Basic computer skills Skill in crisis intervention (preferred)

QUALIFICATIONS

Education Level High School diploma or equivalent; Certified peer recovery specialist preferred

Years of Experience One year of relevant job experience required, preferably in mental related field. Education/experience equivalency may be considered upon approval.
