Job description

Montare Behavioral Health is seeking a PRN Behavioral Health Technician/Peer-Support Specialist to join a team of dedicated, caring professionals involved in the delivery of adult Behavioral Health Inpatient Treatment located in the north foothills of Tucson, AZ.


POSITION SUMMARY

Reporting to the Program Director, the Behavioral Health Technician/BHT provides patient care in a safe and secure environment, assists with daily living activities, focusing on supportive health and wellness, and helps patients achieve their treatment goals and manage behavior. Monitors and supervises patients indoors and outdoors.

Availability:

7am-7:30pm Per Diem

7pm-7:30am Per Diem

Essential Duties:

  • Responsible for direct care, guidance, supportive, and protective oversight of patients.
  • Provides a welcoming orientation of the unit environment and room assignments to patients.
  • Promotes a recovery-based approach to care emphasizing hope, respect, self-direction, and empowerment.
  • Participates in or conducts living skills or recreational activities, assists patients with daily tasks such as cleaning personal rooms, common areas, or other spaces used during recreational or social groups.
  • Documents patient interactions as required on the electronic health record, including daily case notes on patients' progress or regression.
  • Conducts regular property and room searches to prevent unauthorized materials in rooms or on the property.
  • Performs required bed checks, noting and overseeing sleep patterns.
  • Reports any unusual occurrences or observations regarding patient's behavioral and physical health immediately to medical staff, Milieu Manager, or Clinical Director.
  • Participates in crisis intervention as needed to ensure the safety of patients and others.
  • Assists with maintaining and ensuring the cleanliness of the assigned unit and all common areas in the facility.
  • Maintains and completes all training requirements and certifications necessary to remain in compliance.
  • Attends and participates in regularly scheduled meetings.
  • Performs other responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications & Hiring Requirements:

  • Peer-Support Specialist experience preferred.
  • One-year BHT experience in a behavioral health or healthcare setting preferred.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Must be 21 years of age or older.
  • Proficient in oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Must possess a Level I AZ DPS Fingerprint Clearance Card and pass required clearances and background checks.
  • Must have a current negative TB test.
  • Valid Arizona Driver License and a current, clean 39-month Motor Vehicle Record (MVR).
