Job summary

Banyan Treatment Centers is seeking a compassionate Behavioral Health Technician for our new Rochester Hills residential facility. You will help keep patients safe, engaged, and supported, spending extensive time with patients on a 7:00 PM–7:30 AM shift.

Responsibilities include supervising living areas, responding to crises, coordinating activities, taking vital signs, and assisting with medication administration. Prioritize empathy and calm under pressure.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• CPR/First Aid certification, or ability to obtain within 90 days.
• Ability to stay professional, empathetic, and composed in high-stress or crisis situations.
• Strong observation, communication, and documentation skills.
• If driving duties: valid driver's license and Driver's Safety Course completion.

Responsibilities

• Supervise patients and living areas, completing scheduled safety checks throughout the shift.
• Respond to crises using de-escalation techniques and suicide-safety procedures.
• Call nursing staff when patients need medical attention and report concerns to the treatment team.
• Offer emotional support, refer clinical issues to therapy staff, and document patient behavior accurately.
• Take vital signs and complete urine drug screens and pregnancy tests per company policy.
• Supervise self-administration of medication per physician orders.
• Coordinate group and recreational activities and transport patients when assigned driving duties.

Key Responsibilities

Patient Safety & Support

• If assigned driving duties: valid driver's license, Banyan's Qualified Driver Criteria (driving record and insurance eligibility), and completion of the Driver's Safety Course.

Preferred

• Associate's degree or higher.
• 1 or more years of experience in SUD/MH treatment, behavioral healthcare, or health care.
• Experience across levels of care (e.g., detox, residential, PHP).
• Certification in addiction counseling or a related field (e.g., CAC, CADC, CBHT, CPRS), CNA, or other relevant healthcare certification.
• Basic EMR and MAR experience.
• Personal or professional familiarity with the local recovery community.
