Job summary

MIND 24-7 in Phoenix, AZ is seeking a Behavioral Health Technician (BHT) to support patients through crisis stabilization and psychiatric care on a 3/12 days schedule. You will help create a safe, therapeutic environment, working closely with nursing and clinical teams.

Responsibilities include monitoring patient safety, conducting screenings, administering de-escalation techniques, assisting with ADLs, and documenting vitals and tests in the EHR.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED (required).
• 1-3 years of experience in a behavioral health setting preferred.
• Level 1 Fingerprint Clearance Card (or ability to obtain upon hire).
• Strong communication, time management, and organizational skills.
• Ability to remain calm, compassionate, and effective in high-pressure situations.
• Basic understanding of psychiatric emergencies, de-escalation, and trauma-informed care.

Responsibilities

• Conduct patient security screenings and personal property inventories upon admission.
• Respond to escalated behavior via therapeutic de-escalation; administer restraint or seclusion if needed.
• Assist with activities of daily living (ADLs) including toileting, dressing, hygiene, and eating.
• Collect and document vitals, blood alcohol levels, urine drug screens, and pregnancy tests.
• Record all interactions, observations, and safety checks (Q30 monitoring) in the EHR.
• Support facility operations by ensuring a clean and organized environment, laundering patient clothing, and assisting with linens.
• Float between units as needed and participate in required supervision and ongoing training.
• Perform other duties as assigned to support patients and clinical teams.
