As a Behavioral Health Technician, you will support clinical staff and provide compassionate care to patients experiencing various mental health conditions, from mood disorders to severe psychiatric illnesses. You may work in inpatient psychiatric hospitals, partial hospitalization programs, residential treatment facilities, and outpatient clinics.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Patient Care and Safety: Monitor patients, attend to needs, assist with daily tasks, de-escalate situations, enforce safety protocols, prevent self-harm, and notify staff of changes.
  • Therapeutic Activities and Group Facilitation: Lead and evaluate recreational, leisure, and occupational therapy sessions to foster skills and reduce symptoms.
  • Milieu Management: Maintain organized living spaces, promote prosocial behaviors, and reinforce positive behaviors aligned with treatment goals.
  • Documentation: Record observations and interventions accurately and timely in health records.
  • Team Collaboration: Work with mental health professionals to optimize care and participate in team meetings.
  • Treatment Plan Implementation: Carry out treatment plans developed by licensed practitioners.
  • Client Education: Teach psychiatric concepts, symptom recognition, and coping strategies to empower clients.
  • Discharge Planning: Assist with patient transitions, follow-up arrangements, and community resource linkage.
  • Self-Care: Prioritize personal well-being through mindfulness, exercise, and stress management techniques.
Qualifications:
  • High School diploma or two years of relevant experience
  • Valid driver's license and reliable vehicle
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently and in teams
  • Flexible and adaptable in a fast-paced environment
  • Compassion and empathy
