Job Overview

Clearview Treatment Programs in Venice, CA is seeking Behavioral Health Technicians (BHT) to support adults with mental health and substance use disorders through evidence‑based treatment.

Compensation

$21.00 - $25.00 per hour, based on experience, education, and certifications.

Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with the clinical team to determine and implement appropriate interventions for individual clients.
  • Assist and support clients with functional needs and daily living activities.
  • Manage the daily milieu of the facility, ensuring the safety of clients and maintaining a therapeutic environment.
  • Familiarize with each client’s history, needs, and behavioral cues; recognize changes in status or condition.
  • Document client records, incident reports, shift reports, group and milieu notes in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Conduct drug screening, pregnancy tests, and breathalyzer tests as required.
  • Ensure clients attend all meals on time and provide supervision and structure at mealtimes.
  • Model effective table manners and small talk during mealtimes to engage clients.
  • Provide, structure, and maintain a therapeutic environment in collaboration with other staff.
  • Interact therapeutically with clients one‑to‑one, in community settings, and in group meetings, maintaining appropriate boundaries.
  • Facilitate client education groups in partnership with the clinical team.
  • React therapeutically in crisis situations and implement de‑escalation techniques.
  • Recognize clients’ level of behavioral functioning; use DBT coping skills as appropriate.
  • Encourage appropriate behaviors and attitudes using praise and reinforcers; set limits in a firm yet kind manner.
  • Adhere to facility safety procedures, including fire drills and evacuation plans.
  • Demonstrate effective verbal intervention skills to manage escalating clients and involve other staff when needed.
  • Perform vehicle safety checks before use and report concerns to the supervisor.
  • Support clients in leisure activities and outings to promote program engagement.
  • Answer phone and field calls in a positive manner, focusing on customer service.
  • Transport clients to appointments and support them while regulating in the community.
  • Identify triggers for escalation, utilize de‑escalation techniques, and prevent crisis.
  • Prepare for client admissions to all levels of care, ensuring rooms are ready, medications documented, and intake documentation completed.
  • Conduct client belonging searches, inventory, and notify the therapist of any contraband.
  • Support discharge processes as needed.
  • Maintain a valid driver's license and a clean driving record; employees may be required to drive personal or company vehicles.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent (preferred).
  • 1+ year experience working with clients with substance abuse and/or mental health issues.
  • Drug and alcohol certification preferred or willingness to obtain within the orientation period.
  • Current CPR and First Aid Certification; willingness to complete within the first 30 days of employment.
  • Commitment to continuing education requirements for certification.
  • Valid driver's license and generally clean driving record.
  • Completion of required governmental screenings: drug screening, criminal background check, live‑scan fingerprint check, motor‑vehicle report, TB test, pre‑hire physical, education and work history verification.
