Interrelationships:

Maintains open communication lines with facility staff, attending clinicians and physicians, clients and families. Liaisons with community agencies, vendors, and payors of health services.

Position Purpose:

The Behavioral Health Technician (BHT) acts as a representative of treatment staff, observing all patient activity, maintaining a visible presence on clients at the treatment center, community housing, and outside activities. The BHT circulates throughout the treatment center and community housing, alerting to fire and safety hazards. The BHT is responsible for driving the company vehicle to ensure clients arrive safely and on time for scheduled activities.

Workplace Environment:

• Environmental Conditions: Work mostly indoors in a temperature-controlled environment; potential exposure to violent situations and infectious materials.
• Machines/Equipment Used: Computer, Calculator, Fax Machine, Xerox Machine, Telephone System
• Physical & Mental Demands: Physical tasks include standing, walking, bending, crouching, carrying, pushing, pulling, sitting, reaching, reading, driving, and lifting (light to heavy weights). Mental demands are high, involving psychological stress and work with others.

Job Responsibilities:

• Developing daily and weekly structures for clients.
• Overseeing clients and peer leaders.
• Transporting clients, instructing rules, orienting new clients, and following up on insurance claims.
• Evaluating program quality, facilitating communication, attending meetings, building relationships, and ensuring safety and compliance.
• Providing medication observation, conducting waived tests, reporting, and addressing client behavioral issues.

Position Requirements/Qualifications:

• High School diploma or GED; relevant experience may substitute.
• Minimum 1-year experience in treatment preferred.
• Valid Florida Driver License, CPR and First Aid certification within 90 days.
• Skills include communication, observation, knowledge of laws, addiction, emergency procedures, and flexibility.
• Serves adults, familiar with community resources.
