Job summary

HCA Houston Healthcare Northwest in Houston, TX is seeking a Behavioral Health Technician to provide direct observation and patient care under the direction of the RN, ensuring a safe environment and exceptional service for patients, families, physicians, and staff.

You will observe patient behaviors, respond to aggression, build relationships with the care team, transport patients safely, and participate in Performance Improvement activities.

Qualifications

  • Basic Cardiac Life Support must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date.
  • Nonviolent Crisis Intervention must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date.

Responsibilities

  • Observe patient behaviors and changes to support care team, ensuring a safe environment.
  • Respond appropriately to patient aggression or violence.
  • Build effective relationships with patients, families, coworkers, and supervisors.
  • Strive to meet goals set during performance reviews.

  • Communicate clearly with patients, families, physicians, and teams.
  • Transport patients safely using proper equipment for age/weight.
  • Participate in Performance Improvement activities.
  • Demonstrate consistent execution of technical skills and tasks.

Job Summary And Qualifications

To provide direct observation and patient care of the assigned patient and assure a safe environment for the care of the assigned patient under the direction of the RN, Nursing Supervisor/Manager while providing superior patient care and customer service to patients, patient families, physicians, and all hospital staff.

  • Observe patient behaviors, communications and physical or behavioral changes to the care team while providing a safe environment
  • Appropriately responds to patient aggression or violence where appropriate.
  • Establishes effective relationships with clients, family, co-workers, and supervisors.
  • Achieving professional goals set during previous evaluation period
  • Demonstrates professional behavior and always conduct
  • Demonstrates and maintains good employee/peer relationship and teamwork
  • Demonstrates good communication and customer service skills with patients, families, physicians and healthcare teams.
  • Transports patients in a safe and timely manner using appropriate equipment for patient age and weight.
  • Participates in Performance Improvement activities.
  • Demonstrates ability to consistently perform technical skills and follow through with assignments.
  • Prioritize work duties and work well under stressful situations.
