The Maples is looking for a committed and skilled Behavioral Health Technician to join the team at our Hammond, Louisiana facility. This position is full time from 7am-7pm, managed by Beacon Behavioral Partners. The Maples serves as a residential treatment program that addresses a range of medical and mental health issues for adolescent girls facing challenges such as trauma, disordered eating, and substance abuse.

What does the Behavioral Health Technician do? (including but not limited to) The Behavioral Health Technician should have a passion for being a part of the teenager's recovery. This is an excellent opportunity for a compassionate and dedicated behavioral health team member to make a difference in the lives of our patients.

Responsibilities

Essential duties and responsibilities (including but not limited to)

  • Assist patients with daily activities, including personal hygiene, dressing, eating, and mobility.
  • Support patients with basic life skills development (e.g., cooking, cleaning, and organization).
  • Monitor patients' behaviors, moods, and physical conditions, documenting observations accurately.
  • Report significant behavioral changes, incidents, or concerns to clinical staff and management.
  • Encourage patients to engage in therapeutic activities, including relaxation techniques, social interactions, and coping strategies.
  • Respond to emergencies or crisis situations, such as aggressive outbursts, self-harm, or mental health crises.
  • Use de-escalation techniques to manage conflicts and prevent harm to patients or others.
  • Enforce rules and guidelines regarding safety, behavior, and boundaries within the facility.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent (required).
  • Additional certifications or coursework in psychology, social work, or related fields are preferred.
  • Experience working with individuals with mental health or behavioral disorders in a clinical or residential setting is highly preferred.

Physical Demands

This job requires employees to have a full range of physical capabilities, including the ability to handle and lift patients, demonstrate manual and finger dexterity, and maintain good eye-hand coordination. Employees must be able to stand and walk for extended periods and occasionally lift and carry items up to 40 lbs. Corrected vision and hearing within the normal range are also required. Reasonable accommodations may be provided to enable individuals with disabilities to perform these essential job functions.
