Job summary

Copper Springs East Behavioral Health Hospital in Gilbert, Arizona, is seeking a Behavioral Health Technician for full-time night shifts (3x12 hours). The 72-bed facility offers inpatient and outpatient programs for adults and seniors dealing with mental health and addiction issues.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Experience in a psychiatric health-care facility with chemical dependence, dual diagnosis, psychiatric or geriatric patients preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provide support to the therapeutic milieu under RN direction, ensure scheduled programs, supervise patients, and maintain safety with dignity.
  • Observe and maintain a safe environment through patient checks, safety monitoring, contraband searches, and one-on-one supervision.
  • Take vital signs, collect specimens, document care, assist with group education, and monitor patients.
  • Promote a positive therapeutic milieu and accompany patients to meals, breaks, and appointments.
  • Report medical or psychiatric changes to the RN and assist with admissions and belongings inventory.
  • Document patient property at admission/discharge and conduct unit safety checks each shift.
  • Encourage activities of daily living and facilitate psychoeducational/therapeutic groups.
  • Apply crisis intervention and de-escalation techniques; know program protocols.
  • Orient new staff, document in medical record, provide feedback to team, comply with OSHA/CDC guidelines.

Copper Springs East in Gilbert, Arizona, is a 72-bed behavioral health hospital. It offers both inpatient and outpatient programs for mental health and addiction for adults, and seniors. The facility provides a range of treatments for mental health and addiction issues.



How You'll Contribute



  • Provides support to the therapeutic milieu under the direction of the RN by ensuring scheduled programs are delivered, supervising patients, maintaining safety, and treating patients and guests with dignity.

  • Observe and maintain a safe environment through regular patient checks, safety monitoring, contraband searches, and one-on-one supervision as needed.

  • Perform delegated tasks such as taking vital signs, collecting specimens, documenting care, assisting with group education, and monitoring patients.

  • Promote a positive therapeutic milieu and accompany patients to meals, breaks, off‑unit visits, and appointments.

  • Report all medical or psychiatric changes to the RN and assist with admissions, including belongings inventory and vital signs.

  • Document patient property at admission and discharge and conduct unit safety checks each shift to ensure a clean, therapeutic environment.

  • Encourage or assist patients with activities of daily living and facilitate or co‑facilitate psychoeducational and therapeutic groups using established guidelines.

  • Apply crisis intervention and de‑escalation techniques as needed and maintain knowledge of program protocols.

  • Orient new staff members to the unit, document in the medical record according to policy, provide feedback to the interdisciplinary team, comply with OSHA and CDC specimen guidelines, and perform other duties as assigned.

What We're Looking For



  • Education: Highschool diploma or GED.

  • Previous experience in a psychiatric health‑care facility with chemical depend, dual diagnosis, psychiatric or geriatric patients preferred.

  • Certifications: CPR and de‑escalation certification within 30 days of hire
