Job summary

Burrell Behavioral Health in Columbia, MO, seeks a Behavioral Health Technician I to support detox clients in a secure setting. This full-time role covers 3 pm–11 pm, including intake, monitoring, and supportive care within the Addiction Treatment department.

The technician assists with daily living skills, records observations, and upholds a respectful, therapeutic environment. Qualified candidates will be at least 21 with a high school diploma or equivalent; prior human services experience is

Responsibilities

• Assess, admit, supervise, monitor, transfer, and discharge social setting detox clients.
• Monitor vital signs and withdrawal signs; determine need for medical assistance.
• Provide a safe, therapeutic and supportive environment for detox clients.
• Maintain client dignity and model positive behaviors during interactions.
• Encourage social interaction and problem-solving during daily activities.
• Assist with daily living skills and maintain facility cleanliness.
• Dispense medications per physician orders and training permits when applicable.
• Prepare paperwork and obtain specimens for random drug testing.
