Job summary

Abraxas Youth & Family Services in Brattleboro, VT is seeking a Behavioral Health Technician to provide direct supervision and supportive care to youth, young adults, and families. You will engage with clients in a therapeutic, structured setting and help implement daily activities.

Ideal candidates are compassionate, dependable, patient, and team-oriented, with a commitment to creating safe environments and contributing to positive change within a mission-driven organization.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required; Bachelor's preferred.
  • Must possess a valid Vermont Driver’s License.
  • Must be 21 years of age or older.
  • Able to pass physical and pre-employment drug/alcohol screening.
  • Must pass criminal background check.

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct supervision and serve as a role model to clients in a therapeutic, meaningful manner.
  • Implement daily activity schedules and coordinate client activities.
  • Facilitate psycho-educational groups using standardized curricula.
  • Conduct head counts to ensure client safety.
  • Mentor and train newer team members.
  • Support the organization’s Seven Key Principles of care.

What You’ll Do

As a Behavioral Health Tech, you will:

  • Provide direct supervision, leadership, and serve as a role model to clients while interacting in a therapeutic and meaningful manner.
  • Implement the daily activity schedule and structure and coordinate client activities, such as Family Night, Structured Recreation, etc.
  • Facilitate and document various psycho-educational groups via standardized curricula.
  • Conduct scheduled and random head counts to provide effective people security.
  • Assist with mentoring and on-the-job training of newer team members.
  • Support the Abraxas philosophy and mission and promotes the Seven Key Principles of care.
