Job Description

Saint Luke’s Hospital of Kansas City Crittenton Children’s Center in South Kansas City, MO, is seeking a Behavioral Health Tech to assist in providing a safe and therapeutic milieu environment in compliance with agency policies and procedures. As a team member, you will play a critical role in improving the lives of children, adolescents, and their families.

WWP Shift Details

This is a part-time day or night position, 24 hours per week, with a pay rate of 1.5 times the employee's base rate for hours worked during the weekend not exceeding 40 hours.

  • Scheduled to work two 12-hour shifts between 1900 on Friday and 0700 on Monday; one shift must include Saturday.
  • Choose a consistent weekend schedule: Day Shift 0700-1930, Mid Shift 0930-2200, or Night Shift 1900-0730.
  • Must work at least 49 weekends per year.
  • Weekend hours are paid at 1.5 times the base rate, up to 40 hours.
The Work
  • Supervise children during shifts to ensure safety, collaborating with nurses, therapists, and physicians.
  • Observe, report, and record patient behaviors under RN supervision.
  • Implement behavioral interventions as per the child’s treatment plan.
  • Conduct educational and treatment groups with training and supervision.
  • Potentially trained as CMT to administer medications to long-term residential patients.

Minimum Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Experience with children (work, educational, or volunteer); a bachelor’s degree in a related field can substitute for experience.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Must be 21 years old to apply.
  • First Aid, Basic Life Support, and MANDT certification (training provided).
Preferred Qualifications
  • Associate or Bachelor’s Degree in healthcare or therapy-related fields.
  • Certification/Licensure such as EMT, Paramedic, LPN, or CNA.
  • Experience as a Behavioral Health Tech or in related fields like education, therapy, or healthcare.

Applicable Experience: Less than 1 year in Basic Life Support (American Heart Association or Red Cross), Mandt, Healthstream.
