A leading healthcare organization is seeking a Behavioral Health Tech I in Johnson City, TN. This role involves direct patient care, vital signs monitoring, and active participation in psychiatric treatment teams. Ideal candidates will have experience in hospital settings, possess CPR certification, and be skilled in de-escalation techniques.
SCOPE OF POSITION
The Behavioral Health Tech I will providedirect patient care in coordination with psychiatric treatment team and nursing staff providing psychiatric treatment. The BHT will assistpatients with activities of daily living. This individual will performbasic and specialized observation of patients as assigned. The BHT will monitorpatient safety and documents accurately. The BHT will review ongoing mental status and recognize changes in behavior. Additionally, this individual will recognize tension and stressors, offer support, and de-escalate aggressive behaviors. The BHT will have the ability to set limits and enforce unit rules. This individual will performvital signs on all patients assigned including blood pressure, heart rate, temperatures, oxygen saturations, height, weight, and measure intake and output, as well as to alert nurse of any abnormalities.With assistance of nurse, the BHT will initiateadmissions completing physical checks, belongings checks, and orienting the patient to the facility. The BHT will operateas a patient advocate by fully integrating the patient into the therapeutic milieu. The BHT will also collectspecimens and documentappropriately. The BHT will performdaily duties as assigned by charge nurse to include responding to code situations. The BHT will have additional duties as assigned.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Six months experience in a hospital setting as Nursing Assistant preferred. Candidates with prior experience working with psychiatric patients or relevant college curriculum are preferred.
