Job summary

Community Counseling Center Inc. is seeking a Behavioral Health Technician to support residents in the Psychiatric Individual Supportive Living (PISL) program at its Cape Girardeau facility.

The role emphasizes safety, trauma-informed care, and teaching daily living skills in a four-bedroom setting for transitional ages 18–26 with serious mental health needs. Responsibilities include promoting independence, coordinating with the treatment team, documenting observations, administering medications

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Valid driver's license and current auto insurance required.

Responsibilities

• Provide care to clients in a manner that promotes safety, comfort, and a therapeutic environment based on a trauma informed approach.
• Promote and educate clients regarding activities of daily living including household management and self-care tasks.
• Teach functional living skills such as anger management techniques, impulse control, social/communication skills, relaxation skills, emotional coping skills.
• Participate in recreational and social activities with clients.
• Collaborate closely with the treatment team to coordinate client care services.
• Complete and chart client observations in accordance with agency policy and procedure.
• Conduct ongoing checks; including personal belongings, room checks, and grounds checks.
• Ensure protective oversight of clients, monitor the condition of clients, and follow policy on emergencies or elopement.
• Transport clients as needed and appropriate to meet program requirements.
• Intervene in behavioral health crisis situations when needed.
• Distribute medications and document; report medication errors per policy.
• Cleaning of the facility and grounds as needed.
• Document according to clinical policies and procedures and agency standards.

Pay:

$17.38 - 19.78/hour (Depending on experience) + shift differentials

Floating Pay:

$18.59 - $20.99/hour

Community Counseling Center (CCC) offer's shift differentials for Behavioral Health Tech (BHT) Staff who work on Evening and Overnight shifts at its residential facilities.

Evening Shift: +$.50/hour per hour worked on Evenings.

Overnight Shift: +#1.00/hour per hour worked on overnights.

Shifts Available:

Full Time

Day Shift:

• Schedule Day Shift - 6:00am - 4:00pm

Note: Must be able to work any day of week including weekends.

Evening Shift:

• Schedule Evening Shift: 2:00pm - 12:00am

Note: Must be able to work any day of week including weekends.

Floating Shift:

• Shifts vary depending on program needs.
• Must be able to work days, evenings, and overnights

Program:

The Psychiatric Individual Supportive Living (PISL) is a four bedroom living arrangement for transitional adults between the ages of 18 years up to the age of 26 with a diagnosed severe and persistent mental health illness. The residents must demostrate willingness, desire, and need to learn and/or improve independent living skills. Individuals may have a variety of presenting problems including a history of mental illness, severe functional disability (i.e., inability to work, live, independently, or maintain adequate social support) and possibly substance use/dependency issues.

Job Duties:

1. Provide care to clients in a manner that promotes safety, comfort, and a therapeutic environment based on a trauma informed approach.
2. Promote and educate clients regarding activities of daily living including household management (i.e., attending to bedroom, laundry, etc.) and self-care management (i.e., hygiene, grooming, medication, etc.) tasks and responsibilities.
3. Teach functional living skills such as anger management techniques, impulse control, social/communication skills, relaxation skills, emotional coping skills, etc. based on the client's individual treatment plan.
4. Participate in recreational and social activities with clients.
5. Collaborate closely with the treatment team to appropriately coordinate client care services.
6. Complete and chart client observations in accordance with agency policy and procedure.
7. Conduct ongoing checks; including personal belongings, room checks, and grounds checks based on agency policy and procedure.
8. Ensure protective oversight of clients, monitor the condition of clients, and follow agency policy and procedure regarding medical emergencies or elopement.
9. Responsible for transporting clients in agency and/or personal vehicle as deemed necessary and appropriate to meet program requirements.
10. Intervene in behavioral health crisis situations when needed.
11. Distribute medications and document such based on agency policy and procedure. Immediately report medication errors based on agency protocol.
12. Cleaning of the facility and grounds as needed.
13. Document according to clinical policies and procedures, DMH, CARF, and any other federal or state program per agency standards.

Qualifications:

• High school diploma/GED/HSE
• Must hold Valid Driver's License (Class E for Missouri or Class D for IL Residents - Obtain on start date) and current continuous auto insurance.
