General Description:
Under the direct supervision of the Charge RN and Program Manager, the Behavioral Health Tech will utilize behavioral interventions, medical, and technical skills to support the patient care team.

- Assist in identifying patients' problems, needs, and strengths.
- Assist in providing treatment plans based on observations of patients' behavior and contribute to discharge planning.
- Implement patients' treatment plans by monitoring progress and communicating behavioral information to the team.
- Detect unsafe environmental conditions and patient behaviors.
- Facilitate therapeutic activities for patients.
- Monitor patients during clinical and medical therapies.
- Promote a safe patient environment and continuously monitor for safety concerns.
- Assist patients with activities of daily living, including hygiene needs such as showering and toileting.
- Transport patients as needed and accompany them during transfers.
- Record vital signs such as blood pressure, temperature, pulse, and weight.
- Perform blood glucose monitoring and collect specimens as directed.
- Complete annual NCI and behavioral health training modules.
- Take emergency actions when required.
- Report symptoms and significant behavioral or health changes to the RN.
- Assist with admission, discharge, and transfer processes.
- Transport patients within the hospital and assist with moving patients in and out of stretchers and wheelchairs.
- Maintain cleanliness and order in patient rooms, including making beds and replacing linens.
- Restock rooms with supplies and equipment as directed.
- Perform duties for one or multiple patients, including 1:1 safety monitoring when assigned.
- Maintain a safe and secure environment, implementing measures under NCI.
- Intervene during episodes of aggression or violence to prevent harm.
General Responsibilities:
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
Education: High school diploma or GED required.
Experience: 0-3 years in a healthcare setting required.
Licenses/Certifications: Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association required upon hire. Nonviolent Crisis Intervention training required within 3 months of hire.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Ability to work collaboratively to ensure quality patient care.
- Basic knowledge of computer systems and good interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively under stress.
- Knowledge of Nonviolent Crisis Intervention (NCI).
