Shift : Nights - 7:00 pm - 7:30 am - Weekends and Holidays required.

The Role You’ll Contribute

Performs direct observation of the patient with a mental health or behavioral safety need. Utilizes specialized training, de-escalation techniques and other interventions as applicable to create a therapeutic and calming environment for patients. Communicates patient mental and/or physical status changes to the primary Registered Nurse and/or Nurse Leader. Completes data collection related to patient care, administers basic treatments and procedures under the direction of a Registered Nurse, and communicates patient responses to the care provided to the Registered Nurse. Assumes personal accountability for organizational mission and core values.

  • Performs high risk procedures for the department safely, effectively, and according to practice guidelines, as observed through annual skills review.
  • Ensures patient safety through continuous observations of patient environment including monitoring patient activities, patient belongings, and room items. Maintains direct view of patient at all times unless instructed otherwise by Registered Nurse.
  • Responds appropriately in a crisis.
  • Understands restraint monitoring and flow sheet documentation as applicable.

Required Qualifications

The expertise and experiences you’ll need to succeed:

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • One year experience in an acute care setting, mental health, human services or related
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Knowledge of therapeutic interventions
  • Basic computer skills
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from American Heart Association

Preferred Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Psychology or related human services field
