Job summary

Oceans Behavioral Hospital Pasadena seeks a Behavioral Health Technician to support nursing staff and provide direct patient care for adults and seniors with psychiatric conditions. You will perform routine tasks, monitor patients, and assist with daily activities in a safe, therapeutic environment.

Qualifications include a high school diploma or GED, CNA certification or 6 months care experience, and BLS plus a de-escalation program. Benefits are offered and the work is on-site.

Qualifications

• Must read, write and follow verbal and written instruction.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Must work well with diverse populations.
• Must complete BLS and Oceans de-escalation program.

Responsibilities

• Monitors compliance within unit rules and safety.
• Applies de-escalation and therapeutic interventions as needed.
• Inventories belongings and secures contraband; conducts safety checks.
• Follows infection control policies and attends required in-services.
• Performs patient care under supervision: vitals, weights, ADL, nutrition.
• Assists with laundry, meals, bathroom and mobility needs.
• Tailors care to age, disability and cultural needs.
• Documents patient observations, nutrition, weights and vitals.
• Reports outcomes to nursing staff and coordinates follow-ups.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
