Northwell Health is seeking a patient care assistant who, under RN supervision, supports ADLs and behavioral coping, assists with clinical interventions, and helps maintain a safe, clean environment.

Responsibilities include engaging patients to foster therapeutic interactions, assisting with meals and hygiene, observing and reporting patient status, and supporting care delivery during admissions, discharges, and transfers. CPR skills and effective communication are required.

Qualificações

• Minimum of two (2) years of college, required.
• Minimum of six (6) years related experience, required.
• Previous experience with patient intervention in psychiatric setting, preferred.
• Must be able to demonstrate CPR technique within orientation period.
• Ability to lift, turn, position, and restrain patients, as required.
• Ability to communicate effectively, required.

Responsabilidades

• Initiates and encourages interactions with patients through conversation and activities.
• Orients patient to unit and hospital.
• Assists with personal hygiene and housekeeping activities.
• Assists and oversees patients at meal times.
• Escorts patients to appointments and activities on/off unit.
• Assists during admissions, discharges and transfers.
• Assists RN with treatment procedures including restraints and vital signs.
• Responds to medical and psychiatric emergencies with direction from RN; CPR when necessary.
• Observes patient and reports observations to RN.
• Ensures safety of patients on and off the unit and grounds.
• Co-leads group therapy and education sessions.
