Position: Behavioral Health Specialist – St. Mary's Hospital

Schedule: Full Time, Day/Evening Shifts

Job Summary

The Behavioral Health Specialist provides direct patient care under supervision, following federal, state, and local regulations, and policies of Bon Secours Mercy Health (BSMH).

Essential Functions

• Ensure quality patient care, measure vital signs, maintain hygiene, assist with mobility, and support unit duties.
• Act as liaison between patient and nurse, reporting changes and sharing information.
• Document patient care accurately and timely.
• Perform patient rounding, checks, and safety services as assigned.
• Collect patient data and conduct screenings as applicable.
• Participate in ongoing education and training.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma/GED required.
• Bachelor’s Degree in a related field preferred.

Licensing & Certifications

• Basic Life Support (BLS) preferred (must obtain prior to direct patient care).
• State Tested Nursing Aide (STNA), Certified Nursing Aide (CNA), and other certifications preferred.

Experience

• 1 year of experience in mental health or healthcare setting preferred.
