Want to make a difference in the life of a young person? As a Student Assistance Program Specialist at Caron, you'll join a diverse team of over 75 behavioral health professionals and educators. Our specialists provide services to kids K-12, college students, and athletes.

This position is based in our communities, working on-site at local schools and child-serving agencies to support young people's behavioral health, focusing on prevention and intervention related to substance use and mental health. Collaboration with school professionals and parents is key to building resilience in youth.

This is a full-time, seasonal role aligned with the school year, offering summers off.

Applicants should have at least one year of experience working with youth in educational or public health settings and a good understanding of how substance use, including nicotine, affects development.

This position begins with the new school year in August 2025.

Responsibilities
  1. Provide consultation, assessment, case management, and referrals for students as needed.
  2. Offer technical assistance to school SAP teams.
  3. Facilitate entry to treatment programs for students and districts.
  4. Deliver Project CONNECT and other curricula through various formats.
  5. Conduct in-services and parent education on substances.
  6. Participate in staff meetings, report progress, and document activities.
  7. Market and promote programs to schools.
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to present to audiences and conduct multiple presentations.
  • Extended hours and travel as needed.
  • Lift up to 25 pounds.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in human services, social work, education, or related field.
  • At least 1 year of experience with adolescents in relevant settings.
  • Knowledge of adolescent development and chemical dependency.
  • Completion of specific training programs upon hire, as appropriate.
  • Recovery status with at least 2 years of sobriety preferred.
Skills and Abilities
  • Effective communication and public speaking skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and networks.
  • Teamwork, media promotion skills, and knowledge of 12-step principles.
  • Understanding of adolescent development and chemical dependency.
  • Strong facilitation and presentation skills.
