Boston Children’s Hospital in Waltham is seeking a Behavioral Health Specialist for the Inpatient Psychiatry Step-Down/CBAT unit. You will support a multidisciplinary team, help maintain a safe environment, and assist with daily living activities for pediatric patients.

The role emphasizes safety, de-escalation, and participation in structured programs, with a 36-hour schedule including nights and weekends. A sign-on bonus of $3,000 is offered for eligible candidates.

Qualifications

• HS Diploma/GED required; Bachelor's Degree preferred.
• 1-2 years experience in Behavioral Health or similar setting preferred.
• BLS and de-escalation certification within 1 month of hire.

Responsabilités

• Maintain a safe environment and support routine patient activities.
• Monitor safety and promptly report concerns to nursing staff.
• Identify unsafe behavior and apply redirection or limit setting.
• Check and screen items brought into the unit to maintain safety.
• Conduct patient and environmental checks and report risks to RN.
• Assist with safety measures including restraints and observation levels as warranted.
• Use verbal/nonverbal de-escalation to manage escalating situations.
• Support patients with activities of daily living: bathing, dressing, eating.
• Record basic patient data and care provided in medical records.
• Supervise patients and engage them during therapeutic group activities.
• May facilitate psychoeducational groups with senior staff.
