An established industry player seeks a dedicated Behavioral Health Specialist I to join their interdisciplinary treatment team. Summary:
Under the direction of the Clinical Nurse Manager (Inpatient)/Program Director (Partial) and Unit Charge RN, the Behavioral Health Specialist I (BHS I) is responsible for providing care and ensuring safety for children and adolescents as part of the interdisciplinary treatment team. The BHS I contributes to the development of the daily schedule and structure of a therapeutic milieu, and implements, observes, and documents this program under the supervision of a Registered Nurse.

BASIC KNOWLEDGE:
Baccalaureate Degree in a Human Service field preferred; other education and experience may be substituted. Must demonstrate aptitude for role-related skills and knowledge of care across the lifespan, considering developmental and cultural factors.
Bradley Hospital Safety Care Certification: Employees work in a psychiatric setting with potentially aggressive or self-injurious individuals. Must utilize de-escalation techniques, remain calm during crises, participate in physical management of patients, and meet physical requirements including lifting, reaching, grasping, bending, and brief running. Ability to physically escort and manage resistant patients is required.
EXPERIENCE:
Six months to one year of direct childcare work with emotionally impaired youth.
INDEPENDENT ACTION:
Performs independently within program policies; refers complex problems to supervisor.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY:
None.
