Job description

JOB SUMMARY:The Behavioral Health Specialist responds and follows up to all inquiries and referrals to the Behavioral Health Department. Coordinates across all agency departments to collect required paperwork and secure required documents. Works with clients to ensure all paperwork, documents and payor source has been verified. Conduct intake to determine client needs. Will also work on community outreach to educate and recruit of new clients.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. The Behavioral Specialist will respond to telephone, in person and interagency referral inquiries from persons seeking behavioral health services.
  2. The Behavioral Specialist will identify needs of callers/referrals and completes intakes.
  3. The Behavioral Specialist will schedule clinical assessment when necessary.
  4. The Behavioral Specialist will collect and ensures all required paperwork and documents are complete and uploaded in the behavioral health software.
  5. The Behavioral Specialist will assist with department billing as needed.
  6. The Behavioral Specialist will update documentation in behavioral health software.
  7. The Behavioral Specialist will verify insurance and/or grant coverage for services.
  8. The Behavioral Specialist will recruit clients by making the communities aware of our Behavioral Health services. This may be in the form of attending community events, visiting doctor offices, senior centers, schools etc.
  9. Other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

  1. High School or equivalent required.
  2. Case Management/Customer service experience preferred.
  3. Minimum one-year Behavioral Health experience preferred.
  4. Must complete ongoing program required trainings and certifications.

OTHER REQUIRED CAPABILITIES AND QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Must be able to communicate orally, in writing and demonstrate proficient computer skills.
  2. Must be able to listen and to understand and explain complex situations.
  3. Computer proficiency.
  4. Ability to maintain a high level of client confidentiality.
  5. May be required to travel in or out of community with own transportation.
