Job summary

The University of Iowa Health Care is seeking a Clinical Hospital Security Officer in Iowa City to protect patients, visitors, employees and property. You will patrol, engage patients, and enforce hospital policies under supervision.

You will work with nursing and behavioral health staff, respond to incidents, and support de-escalation and safety efforts in inpatient units and clinics. This is a full-time on-site role with competitive pay.

Qualifications

• Two years’ experience in security and safety, or fire safety, or law enforcement.
• Must possess valid driver’s license and UI Fleet Safety standards.
• IAHSS certification within 6 months of hire and maintain it during employment.
• Ability to work in a hospital setting with patients and staff.

Responsibilities

• Provide surveillance of Behavior Health Units.
• Collaborate with RNs and staff to protect patients, visitors and employees.
• Respond to and assist in controlling combative patients and de-escalate when needed.
• Perform rounds, document incidents, and report safety hazards.
• Respond to emergencies, operate security systems, and maintain PPE protocols.
